GELGOTAS’ TOUR OPENS WITH A SOLD-OUT, SOUL STIRRING PREMIERE IN VILNIUS

Gediminas Gelgotas’ new piano program Recompositions opened to a sold-out audience on July 25th at St. Catherine’s Church in Vilnius, as part of the Christopher Summer Festival. More than a concert, the evening became what one attendee described as “an intimate musical ritual in which every note breathed, every pause spoke.”

Built from the most essential motifs of Gelgotas’ past works — from early pieces to Vilnius SarabandeRecompositions transforms large symphonic ideas into fragile, meditative piano miniatures. The result is an emotionally charged suite of minimalist expression and extraordinary sensuality.

The performance ended with long-standing ovations and an encore. It was filmed by Lithuanian National Television and recorded by Lithuanian National Radio, preserving the atmosphere of the evening for wider audiences.

As the director of the Lithuanian based festival “b’Art” noted, “Gediminas Gelgotas — an incomparable architect of sounds — once again showed how a new world is born from classical forms, vibrating to the depths of the soul.”

The Lithuanian tour includes performances on July 26, August 7, 9, 19, and 20, in concert halls and festivals across the country.
